Walton Middle School is pleased to announce the winner of the county school district’s Read To Succeed Spring Contest. The district-wide competition was held from Feb. 24 to Mar. 21. Students completed six possible activities to qualify for the contest. To encourage students to do their very best, students received extra bonus points for high scores.

Each time a student completed an activity, their class earned a point. For each score of 75 percent or higher, the class earned two points. For scores of 88 percent or more, the class earned three points.

The winning class had the most points on average, per student within the school district.

You will remember that Mrs. Amy Bennett’s 6th period class at Walton Middle School won the fall competition with 111 points on average, per student. We are thrilled to announce that Mrs. Amy Bennett’s sixth period class is again the district winner with 63 points on average, per student. This was 38 points higher than the second-place class.

WMS is extremely proud of Mrs. Bennett and her winning class – they really did Read To Succeed.

CONNECT

Communicating with your child's teacher on a regular basis is an essential part of caring for his/her education. Teachers can alert you to any emotional, social, or academic difficulties they perceive in your child at school; the same works in reverse. Notify teachers about changes that might affect your child's behavior in school. Some examples are illness, divorce, the death of a family member, a recent move, or a parent getting a new job. We're all in this together.  We really appreciate the parents who take the time to get to know us and understand that we're there to talk to when needed. It's so easy to fill in the missing pieces when the teacher and parent work as a team.

Transporting powerful teaching
tools into the virtual dimension of the computer.
The National Library collection of over 100 interactive
software programs, called “applets,”
is an effective means for accelerating
and deepening students’ understanding of math,

and it's fun!
